Elementaita

Kenya
Upon arrival at Jomo
Kenyatta International
Airport, you will be met
by a representative from Smile to Africa
Adventure and
introduced to your
driver guide who will
accompany you on the
beginning part of your
safari.
The first morning of
this adventure takes you
from the hustle and
bustle of Nairobi city
to the small but
beautiful soda ash lake
located in the famous
Great Rift Valley, named
Lake Elementaita.
Here you will have the
opportunity to partake
in a number of optional
activities including
bird watching, horse
riding or a visit to the
natural warm spa that
flows into the lake.
Sunbird Lodge, which is
a newly established
eco-friendly lodge,
provides a comfortable
environment in which to
absorb this stunning
area.
Day 2 - Lake
Elementaita - Lake
Nakuru
flamingoes-standing-Nakuru
Kenya
Today is an exciting day
as you will have the
opportunity to witness
one of the greatest bird
spectacles on earth.

Lake Nakuru National
park is world famous for
the sheer number of
flamingos which reside
there due to the
abundance of algae to be
found in the lake
waters. Both Lesser
flamingos (distinctive
for being smaller and
having a reddish bill)
and the Greater
flamingos which are
larger and have a black
tip to their bill make
Lake Nakuru their home
as well as a smaller
number of pelicans.
In addition to the
flamingo spectacle, Lake
Nakuru National park
also offers the largest
concentrations of rhino
(both black and white)
to be found in Kenya.
Other species commonly
found in the area
include waterbuck,
Rothschild’s giraffe,
giant python, with lion
and leopard making the
odd appearance. Lunch is
enjoyed in the park at a
lovely picnic site
overlooking the lake.
Return to Sunbird Lodge
just in-time for
sundowners and a
well-deserved meal.
Day 3 - Lake
Elementaita to Masai
Mara

After breakfast you will
be driven across the
floor of the Great Rift
Valley, the longest rift
in the crust of the
earth, to Masai Mara
where you will arrive at
Karen Blixen Camp in
time for lunch.
Your game drives here
will be in the camps
open-sided 4 x 4 land
cruisers to make the
most of your game
viewing experience.
You will spend three
nights in this natural
paradise among zebra,
wildebeest, giraffe,
buffalo, elephant,
antelope and gazelle.
You may encounter prides
of lion resting in the
shade of acacia trees or
lying low in the tall
grass, in wait for their
next prey. There is a
good chance of spotting
cheetah and if you are
lucky, the shy and
elusive leopard.
Dinner and overnight at
Karen Blixen Camp.
Day 4 - Masai Mara
Migration-masai-mara-kenya-5
The Masai Mara is also
home to the seasonal awe
inspiring annual
wildebeest migration,
which has been described
as `the greatest
wildlife show on earth`.
This breathtaking
spectacle is enabled by
the Mara being an
extension of the
renowned Serengeti
National Park in
Tanzania.
The diversity of the
Masai Mara scenery,
including meandering
rivers, towering
escarpments and rolling
grasslands, provide the
perfect habitat for the
abundance of game,
including the Big Five,
which can be found here.
Depending on the time of
year, today will involve
a drive down to the
river or across the
plains in search of the
scores of wildebeest who
gather here at certain
times of the year, or
admiring the resident
game which can be found
all year round.
Dinner and overnight at
Karen Blixen Camp.
Day 5 - Masai Mara
balloon-flight-over-masai-mara-Kenya
This morning, there is
the opportunity to rise
early and experience a
game viewing adventure
from an entirely
different perspective! A
hot air balloon safari
across the Masai Mara
which
takes off in the crisp
morning air, and lasts
for approximately an
hour, allows for a
beautifully peaceful
experience floating
silently high above
plains, forests and
rivers. Upon landing a
fully cooked champagne
breakfast awaits.
More game viewing
opportunities arise
later that morning
en-route back to camp
and in the afternoon. In
addition to the
spectacular game to be
found here, there are
also over 450 species of
birds that have been
identified in the Masai
Mara Ecosystem.
Dinner and overnight at
Karen Blixen Camp.

from the Camp-1

hear that although it is
the last day of your
safari, you will still
have the opportunity to
experience one last
drive game, after
breakfast, en-route to
the airstrip for your
scheduled flight to
Nairobi.
You will arrive in
Nairobi in time for
lunch (payable direct)
before being transferred
to the international
airport for your onward
arrangements.
